PADUA, ACCESSIBLE CITY

At the crossroads of northeast Italy, Padua is in a strategic location, in the heart of the Veneto region, just 30 minutes by train from Venice and well-connected to other important destinations such as Verona and Bologna, only an hour away.

PADUA, INNOVATION HUB

Ranked eighth in Italy and first in the Veneto for the number of active businesses, Padua is a very lively part of the economic fabric. A city with a long and extraordinary history that looks to the future.
The trade fair district – in which the Padova Congress Center stands – is very close to the city center, precisely on the main road that connects the train station to eastern Padua: an industrial area with a high concentration of companies in the high-tech service industry, including multinationals and big players in IT.

The district is involved in the Padova Soft City urban transformation project, which proposes to make it a smart city on a European level, equipping it with innovative infrastructures and services.
The push toward innovation is also favored by the presence of the second oldest university in the world, still among the most prestigious in Europe today, a center of excellence for research in various fields, from the School of Medicine to Engineering, which is building its new department in the district.

Padua, Urbs Picta

A showcase for history and artistic treasures, Padua Urbs picta has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. Not one place, rather a series of sites standing in four areas of the historic center of Padua.
Precious 14th-century fresco cycles embellish eight buildings: Scrovegni Chapel, Eremitani Church, Palazzo della Ragione, Carrarese Palace, the Baptistery, St. Anthony’s Basilica and Convent, San Giorgio Oratory and San Michele Oratory.
The presence of over 60,000 university students makes Padua – with its squares and characteristic arcades, which total 13 kilometers in length – a particularly vibrant city. The evening “aperitivo” ritual, the typical “spritz” enjoyed at one of the countless bars that distinguish and animate the historic center, cannot be missed.
Another unique place is Prato della Valle, the second largest square in Europe, just a few steps from the Orto Botanico, the world’s first university botanical gardens, also listed by UNESCO.
